I always have a lot of current and past clients showing (and placing and winning) at indoors. Below is a photo of Natasha Klingenstein's first indoor season! Natasha and her continued success is being featured in November issue of Sideline's Magazine!

Here is what we don't do:

We don't "prepare" at the last minute.

People unfamiliar with REAL mental skills coaching think that it is about managing the nerves and getting the "Locker room 15 minute pump up speech" like you see in the movies.

Nope! I mean that is not even level 1 ... that is a Band-Aid and a wish list with fingers crossed!

But if that is all you have in the tank, trust me, if won't be enough.

"But I have a competitive horse!"

Not enough.

"But I have a top trainer!"

Is your trainer the one that is riding the horse in the actual class?"

Then nope, still not enough!

"But this isn't my first indoors. I'm experienced now!"

Experienced at what? Not placing or winning?

A lot of elements must align in order to qualify and to do well for the big, end of the year indoor events.

1. Willing to sacrifice time and money to do what has to be done. This can be a challenge for all of us; we all want our cake and to eat it too!

But for junior riders who ALSO want to enjoy their separate social life with high school events, this can be a tough one!

2. The right trainer experienced in not only getting riders to qualify, but to also experienced to produce results AT the events

3. The right horse.

4. The level of belief it takes to win.

5. The mental skills to program yourself to place to win.

6. The nervous system to make the pressure work FOR you instead of against you ... see number 5!

7. The best mental skills coach who can also align your inner life and your lifestyle to be able to perform at your best. Many times, it is the background noise that holds us back!

Learning how to train your brain for the best mental skills for riding and life ... is quite different from a quick session to learn how to breathe, visualize, and calm nerves.

If you don't take the time to learn the neuroscience techniques for programming your brain, a lot of money and investment in time is going to be thrown away.

"Pain is doing the RIGHT thing at the wrong time." Tony Robbins

Telling yourself you are prepared when you are consciously deciding NOT to check off ALL the boxes, is just a story about effort and trying. And usually that story has a pre-planned excuse already lined up.

It's not taking control of generating the results you want.

It's gambling and NOT with not the best cards!

Think of it as going in there dis-abled.

We have to call it out and demonize it ... otherwise, we all choose to take the softer, easier way.

It may seem less expensive to not add a high end mental skills coach, but how expensive is it to invest in everything BUT and still not achieve your goals?

Again?

And repeating failures is just making that pattern more ingrained in your brain.
